The Batman follows the story of Batman (Robert Pattinson), as he is forced to investigate the sadistic killer, The Riddler (Paul Dano) as corruption and injustice take over Gotham City’s underworld, leaving cryptic clues for Batman to solve. To unmask the identity of The Riddler, he must build relationships with others in the underworld including, Selina Kyle (Zoe Kravtiz) and they get closer to discovering the culprit and bringing justice to the metropolis.
My opinion of this film is that it was so much darker than what I was originally expecting. I know there have been previous Batman films in the franchise, but I have not seen them for a while. Perhaps they have been getting slowly darker over time. The main reason I watched this interpretation of the series is because of Robert Pattison playing the lead role. I have known Robert Pattison as Edward Cullen, from the Twilight Saga, and was quite surprised to see the contrast between the two roles. As for this role, the actor played a gloomy and tortured character, however, I think he did an exceptional job playing out the superhero. Though I found the plot to be very confusing, and at times hard to follow, I overall enjoyed Pattinson’s performance and was generally impressed with the film.
