A Series of Unfortunate Events – Netflix Original Series

Rating: 0.5 out of 5.

The Netflix Original Series, A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) film starring Jim Cary which is based on the first three books in the series by Lemony Snicket.

Three orphans; Violet (Malina Weissman) Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny (Presley Smith) Baudelaire reel after their parents’ sudden death and are sent to live with an evil guardian, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris). A tragic tale as they investigate their parents’ mysterious death while coping with their grief and confusion of so many hidden truths while the siblings encounter Count Olaf at every turn as he tries desperately to get his hands on Baudelaire’ inheritance.

The series has Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) appearing at different intervals in the episodes commenting upon what has happened and events that are going to happen to the Baudelaire orphans. I think the Appearances of Lemony Snicket are quite random and forced within a series that doesn’t have a clear story. Parts of it were funny in a slapstick sort of way with Count Olaf’s constant disguises and the way the Baudelaire orphans had to outsmart him and his various plans and disguises but all of it fell flat and everything was overdone, trend compensates for what the show they had at their disposal. A very disappointing series which I will not be watching again any time soon.
