Pret A Manger, West Quay, Southampton is probably my favourite coffee shop in Southampton and I definitely recommend it for a hot drink and catch up with your family and friends.
There are two entrances; luckily the one from outside West Quay Shopping Centre has flat access. The only issue is that the entrance is a pull open door which I couldn’t open myself. Provided I am with someone who can open this door for me this isn’t an issue. The other entrance is inside the main West Quay Shopping Centre and has steps so cannot be used by wheelchair users.
There is one standard-sized disabled toilet within the coffee shop which is a radar key operated. However, on one of my most recent visits, I sat down to have a drink and sandwich with my dad and saw the toilet being used frequently by customers and staff members alike. I found this very annoying as there are men and women toilets on the upper floor of the coffee shop, although perhaps these were closed.
Once inside, I would say the accessibility and space within it is no bigger or smaller than other coffee shops I’ve been into. Moving around it can be challenging depending on how many customers are in there at one time. I can often get around to all the cabinets and counters but unfortunately, they are both too high or low for me to reach anything independently. The counter is of a decent height, but I have to raise my voice to be heard by the member of staff. The staff members are nice and are pleasant.
There are a number of circle tables on the lower floor to seat a lot of customers but unfortunately, they are low and I am unable to get underneath them properly. This often means I have to do some improvising when it comes to eating my sandwich and drinking my drink.
There is a wide selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries offered as well as a range of hot and cold drinks. I would definitely recommend chicken super club sandwich and hot Chocolate with a shot of vanilla when at Pret A Manger West Quay Southampton.
