Cosy Club is a part of a chain of restaurants, and you can find your local one via their website.
Cosy Club Coventry is located the city centre, within a plaza of restaurants. It an easy location to get to and surrounded by shops. The door to get into the restaurant was a standard door, so I needed help getting inside. I was surprised to see that there were no tables and chairs on the ground level. The restaurant was on the first floor, luckily there was a lift to the top. To my disappointment, the lift was slow and small, if anyone had a wheelchair bigger than me I don’t think they would be able to use the lift independently. The lift was very narrow and sometimes I feel uncomfortable if I am in the lift alone and my companion uses the stairs.
There was not a disabled toilet with a hoist or one that had a lot of room, so I had to wait until I went back to campus to use the toilet. Once upstairs, I had to do a lot of weaving to get to my table. When I was at the table, I had to alter the position of my chair to get close enough to the table. The space within the restaurant wasn’t the largest. The bar at the back of the restaurant was quite high and I would not have been able to order over it independently if I wanted a drink. However, the table I sat at was a good height and I was able to fit underneath.
The staff were nice, but they didn’t go out of their way to be very friendly. They spoke to me directly which I appreciated. The service was slow considering the restaurant wasn’t that busy and because I needed to get to class in the morning, the timing was very tight. The atmosphere was very peaceful, and I really liked the quirky interior with all the painting and antique features. I would like to come back to study with my laptop in this space.
The food menus were extensive, with plenty of options, including different dietary requirements. I chose pancakes with banana, berries and Greek yoghurt and they were really nice. The pancakes weren’t too heavy or sweet, just right. My friends ordered an English Breakfast and Egg Benedict and were very pleased also.
Apart from some accessibility issues, I would like to visit again for breakfast as well as lunch to try the menus. Next time I would love to take my vegan friend to try their options.
