Four Kids and it (2020) Film Review

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Four Kids & It (2020) is a modern take on the original film made in 2004. Starring Paula Patton, Matthew Goode, Russell Brand and Michael Caine. The story is based around a family holiday to Cornwall and the acquaintance of a magical creature that has the ability to grant wishes.

Whilst the original film captured the war-time theme, the new version highlights the essence of family. Both films took different approaches with the same plot, although the 2020 version has subtle references to the original. I think I have enjoyed this remake more because of the relatable themes. Russell Brand’s performance added a new layer to the film and improves it from the 2004 version. It has expanded its audience due to the way the storyline is crafted. The adventure aspects of the film make it entertaining for both adults and young children. I therefore prefer this new version.
