Disney’s Pixar’s ‘Onward’ tells the story of teenage elf brothers, Ian (voiced by Tom Holland) and Barley (voiced by Chris Pratt). After receiving a note written by their late father, they embark on a magical quest to bring their father (voiced by Kyle Bornhelmer) back to life and spend one last day with him. On hearing her sons are missing, their mum (voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus) teams up with the legendary manticore (voiced by Octavia Spencer) in search of them. An adventurous journey filled with cryptic maps, impossible obstacles, the teenage boys also find themselves.
Overall, the film does have a solid storyline which captures Pixar’s heart as well as its traditional and creative animation, but I found the story weak with a flat cliché for a climax.
