The Darkest Minds (2018) Film Review

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

With an outbreak of IAAN hitting the child population of the USA, the country and government is thrown into chaos and the survivors of the disease are sent to rehabilitation camps.  Being detained as threats from the outside world, the teen survivors develop mysterious powerful new abilities. The occupants of the rehabilitation camps are segregated by colour; RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, BLUE and GREEN. Ruby (Amandla Stenberg) is considered to be one of the rarest and the most powerful and the most dangerous of them all. With the aid of Cate (Mandy Moore) Ruby escapes from her camp and encounters and joins a group of runaways; Liam Stewart (Harris Dickinson) Chubs (Skylan Brooks) and Zu (Miya Cech) seeking a safe haven. This newfound family soon realises that they must use their collective powers to rise up together and take back their future.

I absolutely love this film; full of action and romance, the story is told in a way that keeps you wanting more. The film does the book justice and I cannot wait until the second book is made into a film!
