Sky Cinema releases a small film to demonstrate the importance of family in a fun and creative way.
The story is based on the Wishbone family, Emma Wishbone (Emily Watson) works in the local bookshop, which struggles for business, while taking care of her family. Having an overworked husband, Frank, (Nick Frost) and two misunderstood teenagers, Fay, (Jessica Brown Findlay) and Max (Ethan Rouse), Emma tries to keep her family together and does everything in her power to be the perfect mum. With Halloween approaching, Emma drags her family out to a themed costume party. While out at this costume party, Emma Wishbone catches the eye of the Prince of Darkness himself, Dracula!
Completely smitten by Emma Wishbone, Dracula, (Jason Isaacs) enlists the help of a witch, who puts a curse on the entire Wishbone family, transforming them into a Vampire, a Mummy, a Werewolf, and Frankenstein’s monster. Now Emma, transformed into a vampire must fight even harder to keep her Monster Family together, while being wooed by Dracula himself.
Now this film is a good and easy watch. For me personally, it was too simple and the storyline is predictable. However, watching the film as a whole, I think it had a number of strong aspects and themes within the film. Particularly the theme of the importance of family.
